This kind of left me speechless, but I did want you to know it was read by at least one person. Ironic indeed!

Thanks $tevie.

I do hope that the Supreme Court hears about this when they consider the health care law this spring.

Wow!

$4500 in hospital bills and she declared bankruptcy.

WTF was wrong with her that she couldn't get a consumer loan for that?!

My hospital bills from last year make hers seem utterly insignificant and I still tried everything I could think of and then some before even considering bankruptcy.

That was just part of her debt. The part that was relevant to the article.

There is no free meal ticket, at some point people need to wake up to that fact.

The only interesting thing about this factoid would be if she were to withdrew from the lawsuit.

She was replaced in the lawsuit, by some retired investment banker who lives in Washington state.

It's kind of interesting to be made the national poster child for small business owners who refuse to purchase private health insurance, and then go bankrupt in part because of unpaid medical bills, costs that are passed along to people who do bother to purchase private insurance.

“She firmly believes that no one should have the right to tell her she has to use her own money to pay for health insurance,” Karen Harned, executive director of the NFIB legal center, said when the NFIB filed its lawsuit in 2010.

She turned out not to be such a perfect choice after all."

I am sorry for her misfortune. Obviously her personal choices have caused her to suffer financially.

Such is free enterprise. Freedom to succeed, and freedom to fail.

In this case her "freedom to fail" means those of us who purchase insurance are required to cover her bill through higher costs.
Not much freedom there.
