More barnyard humor from the GOP - Gutenberg - 03-19-2012 Georgia Rep. Terry England (R-108) rose to amend a bill on the floor that would outlaw abortions after 20 weeks. (No problem there--most pro-choice women would support that bill.) But what Rep. England wants to do is force women to carry a dead fetus to term--in other words, forbid surgical removal of a fetus without a heartbeat: http://blisstree.com/live/georgia-rep-wants-to-force-women-to-carry-stillborn-fetuses-like-cows-do-693/ For his part, England says the video was edited badly and that he did not mean what he said. He says on his website that if people watch the entire three-hour debate they will understand what he meant. But he does not supply a link to the debate, and he does not make clear what he meant to say. All he offers is a section of the present law— the law the legislature is seeking to replace. http://www.terryenglandforgeorgia.com/ Re: More barnyard humor from the GOP - $tevie - 03-19-2012 I'm beginning to get really angry about all the BS being introduced as legislature. Piggy, piggy, piggy, they are all piggies. And insane piggies at that. Re: More barnyard humor from the GOP - Ombligo - 03-20-2012 Once again a man is trying to decide what is best for women's health but stopping them from making their own decision. The law is clear - a woman cannot be forced to have an abortion. That is how the law should be. Re: More barnyard humor from the GOP - Gutenberg - 03-20-2012 I think a woman legislator should suggest that men can't have surgical removal of kidney stones--they have to be delivered naturally. Re: More barnyard humor from the GOP - $tevie - 03-20-2012 I can't imagine the anguish of carrying a dead fetus until it spontaneously aborts, or however that works. And it seems like it could cause infections or complications, couldn't it? What is the point, exactly? That the fetus may have a heartbeat and they just don't hear it? Or that it could resurrect itself and come out okay after all? Or simply to torture women for having a failed pregnancy? Why don't they just burn the witches at the stake and solve the entire problem? Re: More barnyard humor from the GOP - Grace62 - 03-20-2012 This bill, which has passed the Georgia house, would send physicians to jail: "A person convicted of the offense of criminal abortion shall be punished by imprisonment for not less than one nor more than ten years." It contains a lot more than just restricting abortions to before 20 weeks. It says that the physician has to perform any abortion in a manner least likely to harm the fetus, if it has a chance of survival. IOW - they are telling doctors how to practice medicine. It I were a physician in Georgia, I would take this as a sign that almost any abortion could be deemed illegal under this law. And that is obviously the goal. http://www.legis.ga.gov/Legislation/20112012/123634.pdf Re: More barnyard humor from the GOP - Grace62 - 03-20-2012 $tevie wrote: I don't see that language in the bill. This guy's language is just so strange, cows, pigs, chickens, I don't know what the heck he's talking about. I just went straight to the bill itself. Re: More barnyard humor from the GOP - Gutenberg - 03-20-2012 The purpose of the original post was to point out Rep. England's attempted amendment of the bill. Re: More barnyard humor from the GOP - Grace62 - 03-20-2012 His website says he never suggested that women be required to deliver dead fetuses, and in the video attached he is not saying anything like that. I'm not sure where that came from. His language is strange and insulting, but I don't see that part. I think Rep. England may have been misrepresented. The law as it was passed is bad enough. Re: More barnyard humor from the GOP - mattkime - 03-20-2012 why do women keep having unwanted pregnancies? men never have this problem! |
