Frigidaire
Frigidaire was founded as the Guardian Frigerator Company in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and developed the first self-contained refrigerator (invented by Nathaniel B. Wales and Alfred Mellowes) in 1916.
The name Frigidaire or the earlier version, Frigerator, may be the actual origin of the slang term "fridge".

Not sure why you chose to misspell Frigidaire, but there is nothing in that information that explains why an abbreviated version of "Frigidaire" would have a "d" inserted before the "g."

Ended up as the A/C division of General Motors, which made appliances as well. My family as owned a number of Frigidaire ranges with a GM logo. Spun off in 1971 as a result of government anti-monopoly action. Autolite was Ford's electric division until 1971 as well.
My '71 Buick has a Frigidaire A/C compressor. My '72 has a "Harrison" compressor.

because frige was already taken for a anglo-saxon goddess
it's a phonetic abbreviation
spelled like it sounds
