PIA needs a minium of High Sierra, 10.13. - RAMd®d - 03-24-2021 I can no longer connect to Private Internet Access (PIA), macOS 10.12.6, PIA 1.5.1. Support advises they've decommissioned their servers supporting OSs older than 10.13. This may have happened some time ago, I have no idea. I've got a few 32-bit apps that I won't give up on, and DiskWarrior can't do any repair on an APFS, so even High Sierra is out, at least on this one Mac. Support suggested something called 'tunneback OpenVPN'. I may look into it, but at the moment it sounds a little too techy for my taste. Anyway... Just a mild venting. Re: PIA needs a minium of High Sierra, 10.13. - Sarcany - 03-24-2021 Tunnelblick. A few of my clients use it. Seems like a perfectly fine OpenVPN client app. PIA supports it and offers a config file for it. Piece of cake to configure a VPN client app when you have a config file. https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/pages/client-support/osx-openvpn-tunnelblick Re: PIA needs a minium of High Sierra, 10.13. - sekker - 03-24-2021 I am pretty sure High Sierra works on HFS+, here's instructions on how to prevent conversion to APFS https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/299726/how-to-prevent-conversion-to-apfs-on-high-sierra-install Re: PIA needs a minium of High Sierra, 10.13. - Fritz - 03-24-2021 Tunnelblick works well. If I was you, though, I do a little reading on PIA and think about switching to ProtonVPN. Re: PIA needs a minium of High Sierra, 10.13. - MrNoBody - 03-24-2021 Getting ready to dump PIA due to new owners policy changes. sekker's right, HS works fine on HFS+ as does Mojave! FYI, it's possible those instructions may not apply to current installers, but you can always install on another drive and clone it back to an HFS+ drive. Re: PIA needs a minium of High Sierra, 10.13. - rz - 03-25-2021 That's disappointing. I haven't used PIA for a while... I think I have almost a year left on the 3 year deal I bought it on a few years back. But I'm only on Sierra right now. Was going to update my cMP 5,1 up to Mojave, but I've decided to just wait until the new Mac Mini comes out later this year and go that route. Re: PIA needs a minium of High Sierra, 10.13. - davemchine - 03-25-2021 I use PIA every day with TunnelBlick on 10.11.6. Viscosity also works. Neither can (easily) do an open port though which affects using apps like Transmission. MrNoBody and Fritz, what policies have changed? I'm out of that loop.
