2019 Dodge Grand Caravan GT 61000 miles $26k -- is it a deal? - TheCaber - 03-12-2022 My daughter and her husband are looking for a 2nd vehicle for their growing family (3.5 yo, 2yo, and one due soon) and have found the above Dodge. Is it a decent price? is it reasonably reliable? My last Dodge was a '93 Caravan which was OK, but its last two years was very expensive (transmission, wipers, poor MPG). But, it's 25 years later, and maybe Dodge is building them better? Any advice on things to watch out for? TIA, and YMMV Re: 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan GT 61000 miles $26k -- is it a deal? - Thrift Store Scott - 03-12-2022 That seems to be the median asking price for that year and model. The main thing I'd watch out for other than the usual such as leaks, signs of having been wrecked, and weird noises at 60,000 miles is if it has already had it's major service done such as replacing the timing belt (if it has one). Re: 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan GT 61000 miles $26k -- is it a deal? - robfilms - 03-12-2022 Chrysler/Dodge minivans are great! except every single one of them that my friends have had eventually ALWAYS had transmission issues. EVERY SINGLE ONE ymmv 'nuff said. rob Re: 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan GT 61000 miles $26k -- is it a deal? - jdc - 03-12-2022 assuming they know its worst time ever to buy a used car... can they wait? Id rather have a sienna or odessey every day of the week and twice on Sunday vs a dodge -- especially that super outdated grand caravan vs the Pacifica. quick search I found a 2018 odessey with 30K for $28K. No idea how tirm levels match up -- but all the odesseys are the same where it counts -- engine, ride, safety, useable space. The differences in trim are just "features", like leather, sunroofs, audio. I often drive by a transmission shop near me, and I always look to see what brand of cars/vans/pickups are in the lot. Chrysler products have a big presence. Pickups from GM, Ford and Chrysler too. When I had some transmission work done there, the owner told med that most car manufacturers outsource their transmissions. Re: 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan GT 61000 miles $26k -- is it a deal? - C(-)ris - 03-12-2022 The Grand Caravan is the lower end model minivan, old design. Pretty reliable and all the bugs are worked out or known at this point. The Pacifica is their newer van design that is more comparable to the Sienna and the Odyssey. That price is probably in line, but that was a $18k-$20k vehicle 2 years ago. Now is a horrible time to buy something unless you have something to sell that has equally grown in value.
