Ohio votes "yes" for abortion rights - RgrF - 11-08-2023

Not really close

In a related election, Virginia's Republican governor promised an abortion ban if voters turned the third branch of state gov red, voters said no. Virginia Senate stays blue.

Also, Beshear wins in KY, R’s fall short in VA, and Ohio voters legalized cannabis.

Another…umm….surprisingly (?) good night for Dems.

I think (hope)(pray) that we have reached the turning point for the GQP. They are attempting to destroy everything that people born after 1970 had assumed was the norm. Add to that the folks who are older but not stupid, and you have a movement to put the time machine back to forward.

Meanwhile over in Virginia:

SCOTUS justice Antonin Scalia's daughter Meg Scalia Bryce ran for school board in Albrmarle, VA, on a campaign opposing trans-issues and "CRT." She lost.

and over in Iowa:

Three current school board members are connected to "Moms for Liberty" and the right-wing organization only needed to win one seat tonight to gain full control of the school board. They lost all four seats, setting up a progressive majority instead.

"If conservatives become convinced that they can not win democratically, they will not abandon conservatism. The will reject democracy."

I hadn't heard that. Excellent news. I was beginning to lose all faith in the people of my home state, but this helps.
