Bought a Droid X tonight.

Verizon is the only game in town here in rural Midwest chopperville.

Only had it a little while but can't get the MacBook to see it to connect it to iPhoto with a cable. Have not tried BT yet.

Anyone else have any tips on the X with a Mac? Applications?

Waited two years for iPhone on the Verizon. Can't wait any longer.

When I connect the Incredible I get a screen on the phone asking if I'm charging or external hd. Choose the latter to get access to your card. I don't know if you can get direct access to iPhoto.

Apps I like are:

Weatherbug extreme
Google sky
Battery left
ICE: In case of emergency
Handsent SMS

I talk to friends in Monterey and New York quite often. They both have ATT iPhones. Both have the most horrible service, dropped calls, etc.

You didn't say what OS version is on your Mac. Regardless, try Salling Media Sync (just Google it). Free to use, works on OS10.4.11 and up. I use it with 10.4.11 and my Droid X. You may have to reboot after you first install it. It puts an icon up in the top right of the menu bar when you use it.

2010 was never the year for a Verizon iPhone. Sorry. I think 2012 is the earliest, but there are rumors for 2011. Either way, 2010 is not the year.

If you used a GSM carrier, you could buy an unlocked phone from a plethora of online and retail sources, enjoy that phone for another year or two and not have to worry about extending your contract nor breaking the bank. Unless you really desired to with the latter. Want a simple messaging, email, Skype phone? The Nokia e63 for $120 is a steal, but it is GSM only and not a touchscreen (most cheap touchscreens stink anyway). You could have a choice of Nokia, Blackberry, or several different Android phones.

Verizon has a good network, but is expensive, generally restrictive with phone modifications (even some Android phones have started getting the Verizon "treatment" ), and has no simple method for phone swapping. Is there any reason CDMA couldn't use a small card like GSM's and iDen's SIM card?
