iPad owners...any regrets on the model you purchased?

So I think I'm about to pull the trigger and finally get one. This would primarily be our living room machine (to settle inane disputes between my wife and I regarding useless trivia) and used for media consumption not storage/creation as well as to take on the occasional trip. We both have iPhones so if we need 3G access in a pinch we can always fall back on them. At most I would think we would load it with a small collection of photos, a couple of movies at a time, some presentation pdfs and assorted apps but no music.

It would seem, based on the above that I would be perfectly happy with the 16GB wi-fi only model. I just don't want to have buyer's remorse.

What say any of you?

I have that model and use it much like you will. I have no regrets.

Might be nice to add a poll with the various sizes - 16, 32, 64. I too am interested in how the various sizes are working for people who have them. That said, my 8GB iPod Touch does not seem lacking for my use, the duties of which the iPad will take over in a easier to read size.

Ditto rgG.
Less expensive will probabily make me sell and shell for a newer version easily, whenever it comes out.

The Internet is down (for me) so I'm wishing I had a 3G 'Pad.

Before the 'Pad, surfing on my 'Phone was fun. Now, I'm missing the iPad.

FYI movies will consume 1-2 GB each.

I've managed to fill my 32 GB iPod Touch - about 1/2 is music, there are two movies on it and the rest of the space is used by 160 Apps and some video podcasts.

I have yet to store much of anything on my iPad 16GB.
Maybe the occasional podcast.

I consider any content on it to be ephemeral in nature, and I stream 99.9% of it; if I ever happened to run out of space, I'd just delete something. Media I want to keep exists on other storage devices.

I have the top of the line (a gift), but if I was buying for myself, I'd get bottom end ... 3G great convenience for me but my primary use at home is more often streaming then adding content ...

I went with the 64GB (non 3G) to help future proof the thing. I currently have it about 1/2 way filled up with tons of pics, PDF's (almost ALL of my various owners manuals), some music, and about a 1/2 dozen movies. If the power goes out, I have something to fall back on.

Plus, I'm guessing as apps get more sophisticated, they will take up more space. I believe we have only scratched the surface as to what the iPad is capable of.

YES!
Regrets galore.

32 GB and WiFi only. I probably would have really liked the 3G.

I'm buying a netbook or MacBook air 11" to replace it.

16 GB No regrets.

My wife and I each have one for the price of one high-end model.

If you're traveling a lot, you might want to go 3G or, better yet, find a way to tether to your phone.

My only regret is that I don't own one.

I picked up a couple of 32GB wifi iPads via Craigslist last May/June for about $500 each and have been very happy with them. They primarily live at home next to the sofa or on the nightstand so wifi-only has been just fine.

Current uses:
- TV guide (way more user friendly than the onscreen guide)
- web browsing
- email
- news and weather apps
- photo album
- gaming

In short, absolutely no regrets about picking up the first gen 32GB wifi-only iPad grinning smiley

I bought the 32GB 3G model. I wanted the 3G version mainly for international travel. The AT&T international data plan starts at something like $25 for 20MB. A 30 day unlimited plan in Europe runs about $30.

I signed up for a couple of 30 day plans just after I got it but I have not bothered with keeping it going around town. I can always pull out my iPhone if I am not near a wi-fi hotspot.

My iPad is about 90% full but most of that is an iTunes lecture series. I also have a bunch of documentation from my job in GoodReader, my iPhoto library, and several magazines in the Zinio app.

How's the Zinio app on that? I have it on a Mac, and they've made improvements but I can't help but think the iPad version (non Adobe Air... ?) would be better.

I have the 32GB wifi only model, no problems with the size, but occasionally I do wish I had gotten the 3G model when I'm out and about with it.

So would you have any hesitation about buying NOW rather than in January or February?

I'm waiting. Supposed to be gaining a camera or two, so say the rumor mills. Not that I need to FaceTime on one, except that I'm betting it'll be the ideal platform for that.

I picked up the 64 gig wifi only. I should have held out for the 3G version as I travel a fair amount and don't always have access to wi-fi. Other than that, no regrets.

I've got the 64GB 3G and only have about 5GB free. I have about 1000 apps, 2000 songs, some photos, and 11 movies on it. Love this thing!

Thanks for all the input!

Looks like, with only a few exceptions, most are happy with the models they purchased. Based on the feedback I am feeling like the 16GB wi-fi model should suit me fine. I think I will keep an eye on Craig's List this week just to see if I might find a slight bargain.
