newsreader for osx

I've been using Unison but am not very happy with it. It hangs when retrieving headers all the time. Very frustrating. I can quit the program, reload, and get different results each time. Is there another newsreader that works better?

not that I know of, it's hanging because it's REALLY busy - a faster hard drive does wonders in this situation

Thoth. Try Thoth. I'm not going to go into its history and why some people hate it (I love it, there is no better newsreader), but I recommend you look for it at macupdate. Pay for it...Brian Clark is nice guy and deserves to be paid for it.

What do you use a newsreader to read? Haven't used one in years.

newsreaders are still around? What newgroups are still running these days (and good)?

All I ever really needed to know, I learned from watching Star Trek.

Ditto. I've used it since 1998, back when MacAddict did an article on how to use it. Prior to that, it had been over 10 years since I'd been on Usenet. I tried Unison (TOO "user-friendly"... not powerful enough) and Thoth (blatant MT-Newsreader ripoff, way too much of a pain to deal with Brian Clark... he's not a nice guy, he's a lunatic).

If it's taking too long to download headers, it could be your news provider. Who are you using?
