Riddle me this, Batman
Posted by: pinkoos
Date: December 27, 2005 12:59PM
Hi,

Bought a Whole Foods frozen pizza, round in shape...nutrition information is as follows:

-serving size: 1 slice
-servings per container: 3! (my exclamation)

Now, I don't consider myself particularly dense, but I can't figure out how to get 3 equal servings (equal slices) out of a round pizza.

Any engineers in the crowd?

Ooops,

Just figured it out...cut the pizza like a Mercedes symbol...that should give you 3 equal slices.

I guess I am particularly dense these days....

Batman and Robin each order a pizza. The circumference of Batman's pizza is 20 percent greater than the circumference of Robin's pizza. The area of Batman's pizza is what percentage greater than the area of Robin's pizza?

You know, pinkoos, when you are stumped by an arithmetic question that I can answer, you are in deep and abiding trouble, and if I were you I would start hitting the bottle.

I'd make 2 cuts, don't think I could eat 3.

Okay, everybody had some laughs at my expense...you are all welcome!

Follow-up question: the serving sizes listed under the nutrition information are supposed to be the "typical" serving one would be expected to eat. Who the heck eats a pizza slice shaped like that?!? (If I remember my trigonometry...and I don't really...these slices have an obtuse angle whereas the "typical" pizza slice I'm more accustomed to eating has an acute angle.)

First you have to answer the following question:

If a train left Chicago traveling 60 MPH and another train left Albuquerque traveling 55 MPH, what would be the relative velocity of a laden pizza cut into thirds.

Oh just get three people and all start eating on it at the same time.

3 servings on a box label = 1 serving in real life

So it does not matter.

Trick question

Nobody would eat pizza from Albuquerque if they knew a train was coming
from Chicago with some decent slices
