proper way to credit photographer

We have a piece that's getting ready to go to print and we got some pics in it from a wedding photographer. I'd like to know the proper way to credit the photographer for his work. Since it's a one pager, there's not a whole lot of room but I don't want to step all over someone's work.

Small, san serif text (not bold, just normal weight) 7pt, up the left or right side, outside of the photo. If its a full bleed photo, then inside the photo, 8pt.

It's usually defined in the contract. Some are fine with "Photo: Photographer Name" and some want things like "Photo: PhotographersWebsite.com", and some want "Photo credit: Photographer Name"...

no credit - just cash!

Is there any way of putting a one line credit under at least one the the pics - even with small print?

How well do you know the photographer? If you explain the situation, he/she might be agreeable to having nothing there.

ok. follow up question.

We decided to use a couple of his pics. So 5 of 8 of the images (including a nice header) are all his. I've included a credit in the footer in smaller type and a lighter color. But it's there. However, what about the other images? They are just stock pics. So technically all the images aren't courtesy of @#$%& Bunwallah.

Am I just overthinking this? I want to give credit where it's due. But I've literally always only used stock imagery. This is someone we might need some more high res pics from in the future.

I was gonna say "Fifties, sliced thin".

I always appreciate when someone asks me directly how I want it to appear.

You could always just put "Photos: Cory Riddle" [www.myspace.com]

Again, it depends on the photographer. Have you asked them how they want it handled? Some will want it on every pic, some are fine if it's at the bottom of the back panel.

... Am I just overthinking this? ...

Not at all.

1) When the images sources are mixed on a single page, each one gets a credit.

2) When the images on the page all come from the same photog, it's "Photos by" (for example) somewhere on the page, without any single image getting a credit right near it.
