"Kid Mode" or "Hide App" for Android and/or iOS?

I'm looking for an app for Android and iOs that puts your device into a "kid mode" allowing your kids access to pre-determined apps. Basically, I'm looking for something that will turn certain features of the device off and/or make them inaccessible so your kid can play games or whatever and you don't have to worry about them getting into settings, accidentally making a phone call, etc.

Anybody know of anything?

Thanks.

PS I had seen something like this built into the Mytouch 4G and it seemed like it was implemented fairly well.

That's not an option unfortunately.

this is a good idea, let us know if you find anything. The "restrictions" under settings don't offer many apps, but you can set limits there.

For Android, search market for Lock Mode. Several apps come up that might fit your needs. App Protector Lite (or Pro) allows you to lock any app, File Cover allows you to hide pics and videos, and several play apps for toddlers lock all else on the phone except that play app.

cmon... you are always upgrading (or at least asking questions about
upgrading here)
and youre thinking about getting you MBA (selling your iMac)
and getting your kids each their own computer...yadda yadda yadda

I would surmise with all this upgrade talk you have enough to swing
an iPod Touch

Thanks, those apps sound helpful. Will check them out.

LOL! You caught me. Actually, it's not a money issue. Ever since we got an iPad on day one last year, they really stopped using the 2nd generation iPod touch that we had. So much so that I just sold it last week. Even with the iPod touch laying around unused, they would just fight over whose turn it is for the iPad.

So, I guess I should have qualified my statement as to why that's not an option. Oops.

Please tell that to my kids! They don't seem to think so.

I keep a Google Alert setup and review published items for "iOs parental controls".
Might help you too.

Neophyte, I like the sound of App Protector. May try out the light version first. Thanks.
