Not much point if it requires Flash.
I do like the fact that Google pretty much thumbed their nose at the music companies over their licenses requests.

What's the problem?

Isn't this the same or similar to what the original mp3.com was sued for by the RIAA back in 2000? [www.wired.com]

The RIAA is suing the MP3 distribution company for a new service that lets users maintain an online MP3 catalog of the music in their CD collection. MP3.com launched the service earlier this month. Users listen to digital music from their personal collection via any computer connected to the Internet.

It won't work with iOS devices so you've still got to carry a music collection with you instead of being able to store it in -- and access it from -- "the cloud."

So, for many of us there's no advantage to it.

Amazon's service does work with iOS devices so they've got a leg up on Google. I suspect that Google will move away from the Flash requirement in a soon-to-come update.
