Happy Birthday Galaga !
July 23rd 2011 marks the 30th anniversary of Namco's arcade shooting classic: "Galaga".

To commemorate the 30th anniversary, we've redesigned modernized REMAKES of all 4 titles in the Galaga series: "Galaxian", "Galaga", "Gaplus", and "Galaga '88", available NOW in one upgradable iOS application!

FYI it's the first one in the series, Galaxian, you get for free; the other similar games cost. And I wish it wasn't so large (135MB). But I'll take the gift all the same!

I saw that too - a little deceptive though...

The free "Galaga 30th Collection" only includes Galaxian, all the other games including the "true" Galaga are available via in-app purchase ($8).

I always preferred Galaxian to Galaga, so that suits me just fine.

One of my favorite back in the day, it and Defender but Battlezone, the wireframe one, got more quarters than anything.

Robotron: 2084 forever!

Robotron was by far my favorite game of the era.

I loved Robotron, Defender, Missile Command and Tempest. Always a sucker for the games with the oddball controls, I guess.

The only credible non-arcade version of Robotron I ever found was a version for the Apple //e back in the days, but using the keyboard was never as fluid as the dual joystick setup of the arcade console.

You can add Atari's Black Widow and Williams' Smash TV to that list. I always felt Smash TV was a lame attempt to update Robotron: 2084 with better graphics

Missile Command was my weakness way back when. So many quarters down the slot on that game. Asteroids Deluxe and Ms. Pacman were also high on my list.

My brother and I got kicked out of the local party store by the woman clerk working there. We were there for HOURS playing game after game of Ms. Pacman and I guess she had heard enough of the sound effects and exploded in a rage. We kind of protested, because we weren't really doing anything wrong, but in the end we decided to just leave.

BTW, thanks for the heads up, Trouble. I like Galaxian, especially for free!

Mr. Lahey: A lot of people, don’t know how to drink. They drink against the grain of the liquor. And when you drink against the grain of the liquor? You lose.

Randy: What the @#$%& are you talking about?
