I've had it! I'm rolling back to Snow Leopard

Add this to my previous list of 7 gripes: Carbonite no longer works. It has been lying to me since updating. So, no NAS Time Machine backup nor Carbonite online backup. The other biggest gripe, AUDIO doesn't work! The temporary fix on Apple forums is to plug in and unplug my headphones rapidly.

Forget that.

What if it won't let you go back?

After you discover you're riding a dead horse, your best strategy is to dismount.

It has no choice. It's real easy. Boot to Snow Leopard flash drive, format the OS drive, reinstall SL, boot to OS drive, make second account, map second account to data drive, restore from Time Machine backup, reboot, run updates. Whole process is about 2 hours.

can you get a refund from App store?

or in the past if you bought a DVD with 10.5 or 10.6 and for some reason it didn't work on your machine, did Apple issue a refund? how about MS for users disappointed with Windows Vista for example?

seems like you can return hardware for full credit (or sometimes -15% restocking fee), but I am not sure if you can ever return software which does not work as promised.

I'm not too concerned about that. Since you can re-download Apps with the App Store at any time now, I'll reinstall at 10.7.1.

Actually, you may want to double-check on this.... When i did my test-bed experiment with Lion, and decided to reinstall SL on the test drive, reformatting was not enough. I had to repartition the drive (presumably to remove the Lion rescue partition) before the SL install would take. YMMV, but if you're reformatting anyway, it can't hurt to repartition. Unless you have Boot Camp, in which case: good luck!

my solution is to not instal Lion.

The Taoist Zhuangzi said, "Good order results spontaneously when things are let alone".
The sociologist, and historian, Adam Ferguson described the phenomenon of spontaneous order in society as the "result of human action, but not the execution of any human design".

I formatted the drive and then reinstalled. No issues. Installing OS to SSD from Flash Drive is less than 19 minutes. Migrating back from Time Machine (FreeNAS based) OTOH, took about 1.5 hours. No gigabit port on that machine, but then again it used to be a firewall.
