In Grown Toe Nails and home remedies

15 yr old Grandaugher has an ingrown toe nail.

Dr. Appt is next Wednesday to have it fixed. (Cut)

Problem is, she is going out of town, and will have to have it postponed till Monday 8/1

I know soaking in warm water can help. And maybe wearing the proper shoes that don't bind

Any other tips. Now that she knows to trim them with the first cut being straight across.

Thanks.

I had a scare a couple weeks ago. I just kept pouring peroxide on it twice a day until the infection disappeared. Read that soaking is good and not to pull on it.

I've had both cut. First one went great. Second one (different doctor/different state) didn't go as well. They didn't "get it all out" and it still gets slightly ingrown at times. The first one is great.

I routinely groom mine. Dig out and trim out with cuticle trimmer. If it's being stubborn, 20 minute soak in as hot of water as I can stand. Does it bleed? Yes. Does it swell for a day or two? Yes. Peroxide soak until it stops bubbling. Rinse and repeat. Been dealing with it for 20 years. Every couple of weeks keeps it looking good enough for flip-flops and away from surgery. Trim the nail straight across, file the corners a touch so not too sharp.

if keeping your nails cut straight works then your nails aren't as bad as mine. i guess my feet weren't made for shoes.
