I worry about my sister's house in Maryland. She's in Ohio this week sitting vigil over her father in law who is sinking fast. She missed the earthquake by a day, and now this. Fortunately they have good friends who have already checked on the cat and ensured that she's OK.

I had heard that it was going to miss SC and only brush the coast in NC.

Maybe. The afternoon "cone of uncertainty" shows it glancing SC instead of hitting dead-on. 'Problem is that they change it every few hours and you can't rely on these guesstimates.

Saturday should be nice here on the Southcoast, probably won't be flying kites on Sunday.
I wouldn't be opposed to having all the f%$&ing squirrels blown to New Hampshire.

They've shifted the projected track a liitle more east again.
If it doesn't erode skirting over the Outer Banks then it hits New England or Nova Scotia just a little bit harder.
Usually. Like Bob.

Yup, and we're supposed to be moving in our daughter into the dorms in Philly on Sat which looks like the day that part of the coast gets hit. ...mmmm, soggy boxes of books...

Some parts of that track are really short on rain this year. Maybe not as bad as Texas, but still in "extreme" drought. A slow passage without a too much wind might be a good thing.

Here's hoping.

Good luck.

Nope. I'm in Florida. Irene is supposed to actually suck some of the moisture out, so once the outer bands pass on Friday, we should have a pretty nice weekend.

Looks my weekend will be fine in Charleston, if the current projected path holds true. My daughter in Waltham is gonna have a bit of rain though.

'Looks like you'll be okay until late Saturday night. 'Should be enough time to move her in before the worst of it hits.

I prefer American Chop Suey
A big batch can come in handy when the power goes out
It's fairly easy to warm up

Good way to reduce the pile of zuccinni and summer squash, too.
Sure beats perusing the neighborhood looking for open car windows to dispose of them in.

You need to get creative and fry the blooms before they turn into zucchini and squash. Alternatively, the blooms are much friendlier tossed in open car windows than the vegetables.

Where? Close to Jackson Hole?

No stinking hurricanes here, or tornados. There is a slight possibility of a tornado, they are exceedingly rare in our part of the state. Microbursts are possible, though.

I hope we get some rain out of it. It's very dry here in NC. The pastures are parched, wife is already feeding
one large round bale of hat per day, this time of year she should be feeding about half a bale per day.
Luckily the rains have came at the right times for them to make decent hay over 350 round bales so far
this season, more to get up this week before the storm. She'd like to have 400 bales this year, she's up to
52 head of cattle including the little ones.

Taken last year.

you know, I've tried the blooms (the female ones are supposedly the ones you pick) and didn't really find them very tasty. I even picked them fresh first thing in the morning.
