I saw them in concert a couple of months ago. Surprisingly, they were still awesome. A couple of the band members are over 60 and I think at least one is over 70.

"In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion." (1987) -- Carl Sagan

Only three of the original five still in the group. The other two retired. That could be a first for a five member band from the late 60's . . . nobody dead yet. angel smiley

I didn't discover the Moody Blues until later on, I bought their "Long Distance Voyager" LP on vinyl when it came out in '81, still a great album.

I think the Moody Blues Days of Future Past may have been the second CD I ever bought.

When I get older losing my hair,
Many years from now,
Will you still be sending me a valentine
Birthday greetings bottle of wine?

If I'd been out till quarter to three
Would you lock the door,
Will you still need me, will you still feed me,
When I'm sixty-four?

wow, those are some poofy doos then.
Don't think I recall ever seeing Hayward with a tele.

3 will hit 70 this year. Edge, Pinder and Thomas, the other 2 are punks.
I believe only Edge, Hayward and Lodge make up the band now, with outside help.

My fave group until the end of hi school or so, then I moved to more rnr.
I've seen them a few time live back then. But the recent TV appearances I've seen, they were awful.
But one must appreciate that they still do.

I can still remember the Voyager tour in .. what. '81 ?
John Lodge stopped the music at one point, saying "Look ! Please stop the whistling ! I can't hear me own music, I'm bloody deaf !"

The crowd was calmed, and the whistling just... stopped.

Saw them at the Hollywood Bowl, I think early 70's, with the LA Philharmonic. Beautiful night under the stars, great concert.

Actually they did quite fine on Jimmy last night. They sang "In your wildest dreams" (80s comeback single IIRC). It's always cool to hear vocal chords whose overtones were imprinted on one's auditory cortex 30+ years ago still putting out essentially the same vibrations.
