We're having snain here. And lots of wind. Soon it will be dark as well. I wish I didn't have to go out and slosh around in this trifecta of crap.

41º here in northern L.P. of MI. No snow yet, but we did have some sleety rain yesterday.

blooz and billb should maybe hand out snow shovels instead of candy to the trick or treaters on Halloween! eek2 smiley

11:30pm here in Rome and it is absolutely beautiful outside. Guessing it is 70 degrees or so. After a nice dinner near our hotel we wanted to make the most of our last few hours here.

Enjoyed my last gelato of the trip, walked up the Spanish Steps and back to the hotel. Flight is at 9:45am and we are hoping the wake-up call does not get messed up due to the switch back to standard time.

blooz, where u at?

55º in Cincinnati. Kind of cool. Supposed to rain Monday with a high of 55, low of 39.

Yeah, snow sucks. Reminds me, I need to go out and make sure my snow thrower starts up.

macphanatic...isn't it great that kids can find the fun in it no matter what! My older son had a parka and snow pants by Lands End in royal blue just like that...brings back memories! (he's 18 now - skiing is his passion, always loved snow since he was a toddler.)

Hope you all can enjoy the weekend snow and don't have to venture out - but if you do - be safe.

Absolutely.

I took his older brother on a camping trip with the Cub Scouts years ago. It was his second trip. It poured Friday night and into Saturday afternoon. The boys made a river in the campsite and made boats to sail in it. They did this without any suggestions from parents.

The one it the picture went out 4 times to day. Came in to warm up and dry off. He made three snowmen by the time he came in for the last time. Unfortunately, he didn't have snow boots that fit. We were planning on ordering them this weekend. Oh well.

Grumpy, I'm in western Mass. Just gave up snowblowing because the wet snow was clogging the chute so much. It's supposed to be in the forties tomorrow, so maybe it'll melt. There is at least a foot out there.
Me grumpy too.

We're up to 15 inches of snow in Cummington right now and the stuff is still falling. It's really wet and my snowblower kept getting clogged up so I said the hell with it and came in, opened a beer and made popcorn. I'm hoping the 40º we're supposed to have tomorrow will melt it all.

I think the wind is separate from the snow-rain combo. Maybe powerful bursts of wind blowing snow around could be snusts?

6+ inches of wet snow here so far in my part of W. MA. The warmer temperatures in the valley are keeping the accumulation down compared to where blooz is. But with leaves still on the trees, plenty of branches coming down nearby.

Only a couple of inches here on the river in Saxonville (Eastern Massachusetts), but it's still coming down (10:50 PM).

Just heard a thud so I went out to look around. Seems my 30' birch just hit the house and the other three trunks are leaning pretty bad. I don't see any damage to the house so that's a relief. Looks like it came right out of the ground and isn't actually snapped. Damn, I remember the day we brought him home from the nursery (sniff)... he was just a little sprout. Oh well, more wood for the fire.

Yikes. I'm waiting for one of those thuds myself. I've got two 60 ft high silver maples within 30 feet of the house, and they like to shed branches.

Well, posting from work now. Power at home went out a bit after 1:30 AM after a number of brief interruptions earlier in the evening. Came back for about 5 minutes at 8:30, just long enough to let me think it might be over. It has been out ever since. Power company is saying around 125,000 of their customers in W. MA are without power, may take a week for some to get it back. My town is listed as in the 60-80% out range. I passed a lot of trees and branches down on my way to work, the are going to be cleaning this mess up for weeks.
