Anybody have a 2010 or 2011 Macbook Air with 2gb Ram?

Just wondering how the performance is with 2 vs 4gb Ram?

Thanks.

Do you really need only Air owners to comment?

Kicking up the RAM from 2GB to 6GB on my 2009 MacBook Pro made it feel like a whole new Mac.

Yes because I want to see if the SSD compensates for the low amount of Ram.

'Dunno if it's the SSD per se, but the differences are negligible in Macworld's benchmarks.

But what isn't factored into those benchmarks is what happens in Mac OS X 11 when the SSD has been "seasoned" (performance degrades over time even with TRIM) and everything takes twice a much memory to do the same job.

I don't see how anyone could reasonably get the 2GB MBA if they can afford the 4GB version.

My wife has a 2010 MBA with 2Gb and frankly I think it's a bit sluggish. It's not as snappy as my
'08 C2D 2.1Ghz white Macbook with 4Gb. My next Macbook will probably be a 13" MBA but it's
going to have to have 4Gb of RAM, I wish they could cram 8Gb in there.

For Apple products that come with a fixed amount of RAM, you should usually get the one with the highest amount available.

why dont you just buy the Air with 4gig
and call it good?

my adage for computers is, if I can afford the extra
then i get it so it can offer more utility and be able to resell
better down the line..

It's not for me. I've got a 13 inch with 4GB already. This is for a friend who's finding a deal on CL for a core i5 11 inch, but with 2GB RAM. Since I don't have any real world experience with a 2GB Air, I thought I'd query on the forum.

Pinkoos,
I had a 2010 MBA with 2 GB RAM and it was absolutely as fast as I ever wanted it to be.
I'm planning to get the same configuration in a 2011 when I can find a deal (I -need- KB backlighting.)

Thanks. That's good to know. How often do you get beach balls?
