I can not agree when they are in such different segments. Now if we were talking about TV's 46" and over, I would agree that anybody that buys one that is not 1080p is getting junk, but they still sell.Quote

When you're comparing an 11.6" display to a 15.6" display, yes, that's exactly what it means.Quote

So 1366x768 is good enough for a $1000 MBA but the same resolution on a $400 laptop means it is junk?

Odd, seems to work fine on the nearly 10" iPad.
960x640 seems to work fine, too.
On an iPhone. But on a 15.6" display? Maybe not so much.

Umm, my new 13" MBA is 1440x900 - MUCH better than the 15" screens on PC laptops.

It is also three times the price.

I can't tell, space-time did not mention a model or provide a link. Some laptops are crap, but on the other hand Apple laptops have sadly anemic GPU's and extremely limited configuration options compared to other models in their price range.Quote

Probably more like twice the price of an "average" 15" PC Laptop. If the screen resolution were the only superior attribute, it would be silly to pay so much more.Quote

Do you think that's the case?

Let's get back to talking about products that are (ostensibly) in the same class here, i.e. MacBook Air and the new PC-market "ultrabooks":...

Yes, the discussion was about the MBA versus an unnamed model, sorry for the sidetracking. The MBA is the only Apple portable that does not have a good competitor. When it came out, all the other manufacturers were moaning that they would not be able to beat it on price for several months. My point is, comparing it to anything that is not within $50 is kind of unfair.
