So after using the Google apps for domains setup for our calendar solution here in the office for the last month-ish ( original request here: [
forums.macresource.com] ), it seems as though there are enough complaints about various aspects of it that my boss would like me to investigate a better solution.
We all use ical on our computers, and then the calendar app on iphones/ipads as well, and the web interface only sparingly. The issue that people seem to have consistently is that when trying to delete or change an event in ical, it will temporarily disappear, only to re-appear again shortly thereafter. If we login to the web interface to delete or change, that typically works. But, for people who have grown accustomed to using ical as the main interface for calendar events, this "bug" is frustrating. Being the most tech-savvy person in the office, I've come across this issue as well, so I'm not sure we can chalk this up to user error, unless I setup something incorrectly!!!
The other thing that we like about the setup is that everything syncs automatically when using iOS devices in the calendar app. That's very nice for users who are often out of the office and away from their computers.
So...I'm looking for a more bulletproof solution. I love the idea of the Google system, but it just doesn't seem to be working quite like it should in our situation. I'd love your ideas on two topics:
-Are there any things/settings/behaviors I should look at to make sure things are broken on the Google end and not something on our end?
-Are there any other calendar solutions for a small group that would be worth looking into that have some sort of sync across multiple devices and over the internet?
thanks!
