Jolie's contrived Leg statement
Posted by: samintx
Date: February 27, 2012 08:22AM
I'm sorry, I thought this was tacky from a standup lady. She doesn't have good looking legs anyway. Sorry, I'm not trying to be catty....just an opinion from a female.

FWIW, from a guy, the main attraction of legs is what they lead to. :booty:

Hence the 'woah' reaction we all get when there are unexpected displays from an otherwise floor length gown.

It's a big show about celebrities trying to get publicity. I don't think the concept of "tacky" could ever even apply to anything that goes on there unless you describe the entire show. If you're going to complain about that, how about Jennifer Lopez's "how close to naked can I look in a gown" look?

"In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion." (1987) -- Carl Sagan

I believe, although I cannot prove, that Jolie was goofing around with the complaints that she has been drab and very boring at these red carpet events. She overdid it, obviously, especially since nobody seems to have gotten the point in the first place. OR she was jealous of all the attention her husband was getting. Or both. Or neither.

I wonder why we always have to find something to freak out about after the Oscars? Maybe Jolie was trying to ensure we wouldn't have to do without our traditional Oscar tut-tut-tut.

I thought the dresses were especially lovely this year. Including Angelina Jolie, who on her worst day outshines most everyone else on their best. My favs were Penelope Cruz, the gf of George Clooney (Stacey something) and Michelle Williams.
Liked Cameron Diaz but not J Lo so much. When she was first interviewed on the red carpet it looked like a nip-slip might be going on - surely not - yikes. (meow.)

Yesterday I was in downtown Sacramento, and I was checking out the upcoming shows at the Crest Theater, one of Sacramento's art houses. I noticed that they're going to show a movie directed by her soon.

She struck a pose. Big whoop. Many find her attractive. Many do not. I'm in the "not" camp (Attractive yes, but offset by being far too thin for my tastes), but I don't begrudge her a little bit of harmless strutting, which may or may not have been at least partially tongue in, um, cheek.

I'm more tickled by the clucking and tut tutting.

I think it's entirely laughable on many fronts. Her and Pitt get picked apart for different things. I love that they just do whatever they want and don't seem to care. There are far worse people that should garner negativity if it needs to be badged about.

I agree, she's way too thin, and needs to put at least 20 lbs worth of meat back on those skinny bones.

I didn't think J Lo's gown was so great, but upon Googling it appears that breasts hanging out is her red carpet "thing".

I loved Jessica Chastain's gown. And Penelope Cruz's. And Rooney Mara's: her dress proved that you can flaunt your breasts with grace and style. Overall I thought everyone looked great, even the people whose gowns didn't particularly excite me.

The whole point of this crap is to shock you enough so that you talk about it, and maybe talk about it enough that it'll come up again next year, and maybe even the year after. Remember that dress that Angelina Jolie wore? Remember when Sacha Baron Cohen dumped ashes on Ryan Seacrest? Remember that swan dress Björk wore? Remember that time Sacha Baron Cohen stuck his ass in Eminem's face? Remember Cher's feathered headdress?

So if it bugs you, the best thing to do is not talk about it. If deep down you kinda like it, then don't complain!

That's a lot of pesto.

I tend to like female athlete legs if they aren't too muscular - I like that healthy, toned look:

(I wish I could have found a site that had pictures of them in action in their sports because I actually don't care for these "sexy pose" things, but, alas, I couldn't find such a site. My apologies to any woman who may be put off by these pictures - even though they aren't particularly "naughty".)

I agree about Angelina being too thin. She is strikingly beautiful, when she eats a healthy diet. Jennifer Aniston is gorgeous, and in good shape. J-Lo needs to but another more on that wonderful backside of hers!

What happened to sheer black stockings, Angie? Soften the bones and the whiteness of the leg.

Pose was awkward and unsexy. Don't care for thigh high slits on Ball Gowns. Bad Styling. Angie is very pretty and can look fabulous. She is getting too skinny.

Anniston did it better...really flawless.

I just want to point out that the person in this photo, Allyson Stokke, at the time that it was taken, was an underage high school senior. She is beautiful, and she is of legal age now, but I know that these photos caused her quite a bit of stress because she just wanted to be an anonymous athlete.
