D Wade delivers classless blow in NBA All Star Game

Hard fouls are common in regular season games there is an unwritten rule in these show time games for fans that this should not happen. D Wade went over the top imho. I believe some players are jealous of Kobes success and setting his own records. It was an unnecessary foul. D Wade could just as easily grabbed Kobe and held his arms instead of slamming him with both hands. Wade was seen laughing immediately afterwards. Talented as D Wade is he sucks when it comes to class on the court imnsho.
naturally ymmv *(:>*

"The West was leading 96-84 with 8:48 left in the third quarter when Wade clobbered Bryant on the head as he drove to the basket. The Lakers star immediately went to the bench and was treated for a bloody nose before making both of his free throws."

“After that foul, the intensity really went up,” East guard Rajon Rondo said.

It couldn't have happened to a less classy player. We'll just chalk it up to poetic justice and move on.

Clearly you are entitled to you opinion vikm *(:>*

Next Sunday these players will meet again, it could possibly be interesting.
Public opinion about Wades actions weighs heavily that it was classless.

How dare they attempt to play defense at an All-Star Game!

Defense is a good thing "Malice" is something else. This was an intentional hard foul that broke
Kobe Bryant's nose.

In a regular season game it would have been a flagrant foul and possible immediate ejection.

Kobe and Wade are friends and Olympic teammates. The second half got intense as it should have. The East was trying to battle back. Kobe had 24 I think at that point and he knows how to get to the line. Wade was making sure he didn't get the And One.

Not a lot of real sportsmen in our forum Rudie.

Is that the same Kobe Bryant that went through his faze of throwing an elbow backwards/sideways into a defenders head and then argued it was a normal shooting or clear out motion?

That was James Worthy. Kobe had a "right" to his shooting motion. Your talking about the stuff against Doug Christie and an early Sacramento Kings series.

I totally agree about hard fouls and how they shouldn't happen.

But (and I need to see if I can find where I read this) I had the impression that Kobe brought it on himself with some aggressive fouling on Wade (though I don't think he mean't to break Kobe's nose).

And don't get me wrong, I admire both Kobe and Wade.

There is a distinct possibility they are one and the same guy. secret smiley
Getting hammered by defenders all the time stimulates defense mechanisms.

Kobe may be taking more foul shots than anyone else in the league for this very reason. *(:>*
He is also likely the most double teamed player in the NBA.

There are many points of view to take into consideration.

Kobe was suspended over this "right".

This might be helpful *(:>*

excerpt:

It is the fifth time that Bryant has been suspended by the NBA. In December 2005, Bryant caught Memphis' Mike Miller with an elbow in the throat and was suspended two games. In March 2002, Bryant had to sit two games for throwing a punch and fighting with Indiana's Reggie Miller at the conclusion of a Lakers-Pacers game. Then in April 2000, Bryant received a one-game suspension for retaliating by throwing a punch against the Knicks' Chris Childs.

One of the many bs suspensions. Bruce Bowen was the best Kobe defender of them all. He did it without violating his shooting motion. I get to shoot the ball. Jordan did this constantly except he was able to enforce his zone. Something they haven't always let Kobe do.

Wade was overheard saying, "Know your role." to Kobe before walking away and laughing.
Ok, i just made that up. But it's completely plausible ;) It's his M.O. Wade (and the Heat) put Lin "in his place" last week. Give Kobe a moment in the spotlight? Nah. Here's a broken nose for your troubles.
