Favorite Soundtracks Revisited?

Listening to Sling Blade soundtrack from '96. Highly enjoyable. Bambi Lee Savage, Booker T & the MG's, Daniel Lanois (U2 collaborator/producer), Local H, Russell Wilson, Tim Gibbon. Replete with retro goodness, gorgeous and disturbing instrumental soundscapes, blues and Seattle alt rock.

Any other favorite soundtracks out there?

I should have put a * next to Valley Girl based on all the controversy about the soundtrack. I have both vinyl pressings and an even more complete compilation of most if not all of the songs that should have been on the soundtrack on their original vinyl.

Rhino Records did a couple of re-creations that were release some time ago that represent pretty well.

Some day I have to get that all converted over into digital!

From Dusk Til Dawn

I've also seriously considered buying the soundtrack to True Lies just to get the Screaming Trees' cover version of "Darkness Darkness", which I prefer to the original version.

I listen to a lot of scores, not as many soundtracks. First that pops to mind, though, are Heavy Metal and Yellow Submarine (the full Songtrack release from last decade).

I also have to admit I like the film soundtrack for Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. I saw the movie as a kid, during a pretty happy part of my childhood, so it has some nice memories.

I know exactly what you're referring to. VG was the first soundtrack I thought of when i saw the thread title. Then was surprised to see it listed as someone else's favorite. I recall there was one record store years and years ago I would go in that had it on vinyl hanging up on the wall (like how many shops do with the rare stuff). I don't recall the price exactly but it was pretty steep at the time. That's pretty cool that you have that stuff smiling smiley

The Graduate

"In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion." (1987) -- Carl Sagan

Sorry, $tevie. It wasn't so much controversial regarding songs or content of the songs. Well in a way I guess it was lol. It was just licensing/label stuff if I recall. JPK may better recall the details. I just knew I wanted the tracks and couldn't get them!

Never cared much for Soundtracks but Pretty in Pink comes to mind, as I used to listen to it quite a bit when I was painting apartments the summer of 1986.

OMD, Suzanne vega, and probably the best New Order song ever committed to vinyl since Power, Corruption and Lies.

1. "If You Leave" Andy McCluskey, Paul Humphreys, Martin Cooper Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark 4:25
2. "Left of Center" Vega Suzanne Vega with Joe Jackson 3:33
3. "Get to Know Ya" Johnson Jesse Johnson 3:34
4. "Do Wot You Do" Andrew Farriss, Michael Hutchence INXS 3:16
5. "Pretty in Pink" John Ashton, Tim Butler, Richard Butler, Vince Ely, Duncan Kilburn, Roger Morris The Psychedelic Furs 4:40
6. "Shellshock" New Order, John Robie New Order 6:04
7. "Round, Round" Neville Keighley Belouis Some 4:07
8. "Wouldn't It Be Good" Nik Kershaw Danny Hutton Hitters 3:44
9. "Bring On the Dancing Horses" Will Sergeant, Ian McCulloch, Les Pattinson, Pete de Freitas Echo & the Bunnymen 3:59
10. "Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want" Johnny Marr, Morrissey The Smiths
