so much for that idea. Hulu + really can't cut the few shows we watch with the same expectations.

So it's off to OOL we go.
Still $50 less/month for a year with more or less the same stuff. And a free iPod touch (that I need like a hole in the head ) after 30 days.

We'll get 15/2M for the interwebs W/o wireless router from OOL.
I plan to reactivate my Belkin G. 7230.
Is there any reason I should find something new as long as it works and I set security on it?

Do you do a lot of local file transfers? Do you need to stream HD video locally? No, then no real reason to upgrade. At that download speed, 802.11g should be fine. WPA2 AES is the way to go with security if your router and devices support it.

Milk your existing hardware as long as possible, the man (you know, big corp) doesn't need more of your money.

sorry mate. I know how bad it is in BK. My former post partner pays $150 just for his interweb 25/25 from TW between PPW and Red Hook.

I know this will only get me a year before they jack me up again. Then back to FiOS or perhaps Virginia or Australia. ;-)

Like you, the cost of FIOS TV/Internet/Phone is definitely not too much money. My wife and I positively get our $$$ worth out of it. 'course, we've opted for services like the multi-room DVR (which for us is free for as long as we stay in this location) and HBO/Cinemax but we're getting our money's worth out of them. The multi-room DVR rocks.

we received the new MRDVR just before I disconnected from FiOS TV service.
I'm currently on interwebs and phone only.
The new MRDVR was positively a dog compared to the older version.
Crashed, locked-up, shut down, forgot what was on the DVR. Tech support was great, but the thing was a stinker.

Since I work in tv, I don't much care to watch it. My spouse misses it more than I.
We'll see how going back to OOL goes. I hope it'll last the year and by then, maybe more will shake out.
But a $150 and rising is too much for what is usually not more than 10 hrs a week of TV.
And the difference between 15/2 and 25/25, from my experience is nada.

I really wanted to cut the cord, but it requires more research, better tech and something more than what Hulu Plus currently offers. Things won't get better when NetFlix gets pushed aside by the ATTs, Comcasts and FiOS of the marketplace.

Sounds like you had a bad unit. We've had no problems with the new DVR. My only complaint is that it doesn't support our WD My DVR Expander. Apparently, ours is a slightly over version of the expander and our Verizon box is compatible with just the newer models.
