remote starter for car

I am considering a remote starter for my toyota solara 2007. The dealership wants $500 which seems high. Any recommendations for aftermarket remote starters?

Btw, the solara is built on the camry platform so anything that will work with the camry should work for the solara.

You shouldn't have to pay more than $250. Look for any aftermarket shop that does high end sound systems, funky rims, etc. I actually found my guy on Yelp. He came to my house and installed the system onsite (I have a 2007 Honda CR-V.) About 2 hours, $175 later, it was done.

FWIW- I live in Chicago.

If that is for a factory install, I'd take that. If they are just doing an aftermarket deal, it is $250ish too expensive.

It was the price for an after market install. According to my local dealership there is no factory install for that year. Thank you for any information.

Best Buy is probably going to be my only choice. It appears they carry the Avital and Viper brand names. Any comments on the quality of either system? The Viper is more money.

Best Buy? Really? I hope they have gotten better - guy at work got his car screwed up by the 17 year old installer doing his stereo system years ago.

I bought an Avital for our 2004 Sienna from Amazon for about $75 if I recall. Local installation at a stereo installer was about $250 and was apparently straightforward for them, but I'll readily admit that the instructions that came with the device were terrifyingly complicated and assumed a ton of prior knowledge of car wiring systems.

Just had one installed in a 2010 Mazda 6, $200. Shop around.

They are very common in Europe and Russia as I recall Viper is pretty popular.
Knowing where it is manufactured may also be important.
