OK, before I take this beast to the Apple Store, what kind of battery life are you getting on your 4s ?

Recognize that I'm following all the battery life tricks I've read here and there, but I do use it for more than just sitting silently taking a few phone calls a day.

I get through perhaps 2/3 of a day, and it's annoying the heck out of me. Because..

"Maximum Battery Life

iPhone 4S offers up to 8 hours of talk time on 3G, 14 hours of talk time on 2G (GSM model only), 6 hours of Internet use on 3G, 9 hours of Internet use on Wi-Fi, 10 hours of video playback, or 40 hours of audio playback on a full charge at original capacity. In addition, iPhone 4S features up to 200 hours of standby time"

Mine lasts all day and into evening if I play a lot of games on it. A couple of days, if all I do is read email and phone and maybe text. I haven't really followed any of those guidelines except I don't have pushed email.

i dont know

i charge it all the time
during my drive into work, during my drive back home
with just these two things it lasts me all day and night
until next morning.

if i watch videos or stream video from my mac then the battery
reduces alot faster. Some games too also eat up batt life but
only my daughter plays them when i get home from work.

I also put it into airplane mode at night, so i can have an alarm
but not have the alert sounds from email, messages and other apps...

There are apps that I think do quite a bit of communication behind the scenes and eat the battery.

Really depends. During the week with heavy use about a day. I don't use my phone much on the weekend so it will generally last all weekend without a charge.

I would suspect poor cellular connections - that can completely kill an iPhone's battery because it's constantly calling home.

You might want to take it in, but prepared to be told it's in factory specs.

The answer would then be a battery case. I have such a case now, and it's great when I travel or am in a setting where my phone gets constantly used. This was the best add-on I've purchased in a long time as it protects my phone, looks nice, and makes me fearless of using my phone due to power during a normal day (I suspect you hesitate sometimes because of battery issues).

And it doesn't have a standard dock cable connector on the bottom, right? It's one of those mini or micro USB port thingies?

I make sure I charge before I leave for work in the car. During an 8 hour work day where I read the news and might use it to google info for customers, it drops from 100% to 80% on a good day and to 60% on bad day.

Honestly it just depends on what you are doing. A GPS app will kill the battery in hours. Risk, the game also quickly uses the battery. Additionally, a weak 3G signal means you phone spends a lot of time and power trying to connect.

On those days I need my phone to last I slip it into a charger case.

Yes. There are some real advantages to the smaller port.
