Windows XP Upload View Prefs.

Using vmware Fusion, Windows XP home and Explorer, I have to upload many files to a website. This is what I have to do for every one of them:

Hit the "Browse" button on the website. "Choose File to Upload" window comes up.
Go to "View Menu" and select "Details".
Click twice on the "Date Modified" column, so the most recent file is on top.
Drag the "Name" column, to show the full name and extension, instead of "…".

Is it possible to make these display preferences stick, so I don't have to set them for every single file I have to upload?

PleasePleasePlease... I'm Windows-challenged.

I believe (don't have a XP machine at my disposal, so telling this from memory) in windows explorer, set the views the way you want them to appear every time. Then choose the Folders menu and click the View tab. Make any additional changes and then click the button that says Apply to all Folders. And then click OK. That should make your changes stick, IIRC.

Thanks, but I can't find the Folder menu from the "Choose File to Upload" window...
In the... windows'-equivalent-to-the-finder... the folder is set to appear the way I need it, and it sticks...

I do not think you can change it without some editing of the Registry. I would put a folder in that directory that you frequently upload from and move everything you are done uploading with into (hopefully that makes sense).

in tha 510.

I meant for you to change the basic folder structure of windows explorer. You do that, not from the Upload prompt, but from windows explorer. IIRC, the changes made there will be reflected in the upload dialog. As I mentioned, I don't have an XP PC to check it on, but it's a small effort to just try.

Oh I see... windows explorer is what I call the windows'-equivalent-to-the-finder.
It's already set as I would like the Choose window to appear, but makes no difference.
Even the size of the aforementioned window will not stick after I exit IE...
Hate to say it, but I guess it's a windows thing...
Good that I can quit the app and come back to cozy mac.

No guarantees, but you might want to look at this.
Caveat - I know nothing!
Be sure your AV is up to date before trying anything from the web on Windows!

Thanks olnacl... I installed it and set it to open a wider dialog in details mode.
I still have to dbl-click on date and widen the name column, but it is better.
Windows is really absurd...
Thanks again!
