ha-----looking for good fairly recent comedy series

we recently dumped our dish subscription. we could use a few chuckles and are looking for a few seasons of a good comedy series. the late and greatly lamented party down and parks and recreation are our two recent favorites. heck, we'd even be open to something without scott adams (tho she thinks he's really cute). streaming netflix or hulu would be fine; other formats welcome.

thanx for your suggestions.

I adore 30 Rock, but it may be an acquired taste?

Ditto for Big Bang Theory. Also, the first season of Raising Hope.

Better Off Ted.

But don't cry when you reach the end of season two on Netflix...

I love The Big Bang Theory. Also 2 Broke Girls.

I'm a big fan of Archer, too, but that may be an acquired taste, given the language and very explicit sexual humor. Aisha Tyler rocks.

Something of a Comedy-Drama (I hate the industry buzzword) with emphasis on the subtle comedy is Doc Martin, a BBC (British, anyway) program with all the seasons (except maybe the last/latest) on Netflix.

Yeah, what is it with Greg Garcia? My Name is Earl started out so wonderfully then sank into sheer crapdom, and now Raising Hope is doing the same exact thing. It's like he has no clue why the shows are good, discards the best parts, and concentrates on repetition and stupidity. It's bizarre.

I tried very hard to like Big Bang Theory, but it is so formulaic and trite. Is it possible that I only watched the lamest episodes?

"In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion." (1987) -- Carl Sagan

Yet another vote for Big Bang Theory and Modern Family. I also like 2 Broke Girls. Happy Endings is hit or miss but sometimes really funny. Overall really like How I Met Your Mother, but the past season hasn't been all that great.

I like Community and 30 Rock but must admit I have yet to see the majority of episodes.
