Hollywood director James Cameron has plunged nearly 11km (seven miles) down to the deepest place in the ocean, the Mariana Trench in the western Pacific.
He made the descent alone in a prototype submarine called "Deepsea Challenger", taking around two hours to reach the bottom.
Once he reached a depth of 10,898 metres (35,756 ft), his first words up to the surface were: "All systems OK."
His craft is kitted out with cameras and lights so he can film the deep.
This is only the second manned expedition to the ocean's deepest depths - the first took place in 1960.
The earlier descent was made by US Navy Lt Don Walsh and Swiss oceanographer Jacques Piccard.
They spent about 20 minutes on the ocean floor but their landing kicked up silt, meaning their view was obscured.
Before the dive, the Titanic director told the BBC, that making the descent was "the fulfilment of a dream".

That, and the many, many TONS per square inch of pressure on the hull is actually harder to build a craft against than a space craft that only has to hold IN 14.7 pounds per square inch.
But then there's that whole escape velocity thing to get into space and that whole "Die in a Ball of Fire on Re-entry" thing to get back home.
But once you're there, it's a pretty smooth ride!

Did they find Megatron?
Did anyone else think it was totally F$@*% stupid that they dumped the "dead" megatron into the trench thinking no one could get to him? Hello? These robots have the technology to travel intergalactic space. Why would some deep water stop them from retrieving Megatron. I am glad I haven't paid to watch any of the transformer movies.

Let's say for a moment that Jim Cameron sees something truely "otherworldly" on the ocean floor....
Who's going to beleive him since yeah, he DID make "The Abyss".
I didn't say it was the ONLY technical challenge.... just that on that ONE technical point, spacecraft designers got it easy
