Does Apple have any touch screen software or drivers for the Mac - for use with VGA/USB monitors?

Just curious if anyone is using them or has seen such.

Seems very odd that Windows based Karaoke is everywhere with self-serve kiosks, and bar screens
and the like — for years, and yet, despite iPhone and iPad (and screens that were touch screen GLASS back in the mid 80s) that we still don’t have a presence there, when of all companies, Apple should be leading it.

Especially now.

You can operate a touch screen just like a mouse, they typically have a USB connection from the screen to the computer. The problem is a complete lack of software application that use touch screens.

Photo Booth, interactive customer advertising, Karaoke, etc.

That was part of my thinking when I asked the Q. But I know that there was a tablet maker involved with that
as opposed to an iPad pure touch. Remember, the original 4 Axiotrons had pens with them.

I know because I had the Jan 2007 Macworld/OWC display made for it.

Mr645 - you kind of repeated what I said. My question really is, if I plug the USB in, what’s going to happen?
Will the screen respond as an external mouse - not needing drivers?

I know a guy who got one on eBay for his Karaoke set-up, but it’s already mounted in a fuzzy box with a dedicated
computer, so I can’t really try it out. He got it off eBat for under $90 for a 17 or 19” flatscreen. It’s been
my understanding that the thin film is very much the same as a capacitance function just as a track pad,
which leads me to wonder, again, will it operate as a mouse, and those pieces of software that have big buttons
to click (like Kindle Mac) will appear to function like a “TouchScreen App” - and Photoshop will continue to function
like I am using a trackpad…? Or will it just act like a monitor?

I know the ones for sale come with a CD for Winduds and Linux. You’d think after the Linux driver that a Mac
driver wouldn’t be that big a deal.
