It seems to me as if the last few years they've managed to find one reason or another to extend it.

Doe this mean that the deadline for the states is also on April 17th?

Good question. I just looked it up, and MI is also due on the 17th. YMMV and all that jazz.

I would think so, since (at least in MD) the state form is based on the federal form's adjusted gross income.

Okay, it looks like it's April 17th here in California.

However, just because state taxes are based upon the federal adjusted gross return, it does not necessarily follow that a state must have the same filing and payment date as the feds.

Holiday here in MA as well (and ME, too). Patriots' Day.

Celebrating the Battles of Lexington and Concord.

Also the Boston Marathon.

Also, the only day an MLBB game starts in the morning! The Red Sox are always at home, and the game starts at 11:00 AM.

Our local income tax is still due April 15, even though the state is following the IRS with April 17.

So, be careful out there. Make no assumptions.

Iowa's income tax is due on April 30th.

2 weeks to try to cough up more money.

I think VA is May 30.

I'm usually filed & finished by the end of Feb anyway.

I thought it was just Taxachusetts which got us to the 17th because of Patriots Day here. Didn't know the feds extended it to all states.

Massachusetts and states served by the same IRS processing center in eastern MA have received an extension if Patriots Day fell on the right day for decades. It is only recently that the observance of Emancipation Day in DC has caused extensions in the Federal filing deadline for other parts of the country.
