Earlier in the week, Mrs. Buzz felt like being nice to Baby Buzz and me (for reasons I don't dare speculate about), and went to southern California's best fish market (which thankfully is only a few blocks from us), and brought home some large shrimp, and three lobster cakes. She sauteed some fresh chopped garlic, and then tossed in mushrooms and peppers while I whipped up some hot and sweet and spicy sauce. Oh, cooked up some rice while we were preparing the good stuff, and seasoned the lobster cakes and put 'em in the oven, too.
Set the veggies aside cooked the the shrimp in the garlic oil, added some of the spicy sauce, and when they were about halfway done, added some chicken stock and more spicy sauce to keep the shrimp moist and tasty. As the shrimp were finishing up, added the 'shrooms & peppers back into the pan, and some broccoli florets as well, along with the remaining spicy sauce, and let simmer while we plated the rice and lobster cakes. Then spooned the shrimp and veggies over the rice and drizzled some spicy broth from the pan over the seasoned lobster cakes.
Still no clue what prompted spousal unit's run to the fish market, but it sure ended up amazingly tasty. Tonight we're going with the bison (from Costco) for some healthy protein... maybe subliminally try and counteract last night's pizza? Haven't decided on the preparation, other than that we'll grill it and probably pair it with salad and pasta of some sort. Too much rice lately, and I think pasta will be less hassle than mashed potatoes.
Hopefully the buffalo will turn out as good the shrimp and lobster cakes did, so it'll be surf and turf; just separated by a few days.
Was kinda flashing on;
Robert Mitchum as he tells you... BEEF. It's what for dinner. ///
