What you would notice as a user depends on what you do. A fast dual core can be faster at some single tasks that do not take advantage of multiple processors. The 2011 MacBook Pro 2.3GHz quad-Core i7 is a machine that will be a fast computer for a long time (at least until Apple releases a dual quad core iPad). EDIT: New MacBooks are expected by July, so take that into account if you frequently have buyers remorse when new models are released.

If you are looking for best bang for your buck, just make sure that whatever MBP you buy is from early 2011 or newer.
Its all about the chip. You dont want a 2010 MBP.

Those were even better when Microcenter was blowing them out for $1599 new.

I did my best to make that happen, but it just did not work out here from the Philippines.
That was a very most huge killer deal indeed *(:>* The caveat on that deal was it had to be an in store pick up only. I pretty much hate every one else that got that deal

Don't worry about it... I'm on Rudie's "list" a couple of times, too, for that one, and other than my hair falling out, a nasty persistent rash everywhere, my marriage falling apart, the kid failing in school, the car leaking strange fluids and making strange noises, everything is OK... really, it's OK. Actually the real list is that Buzz and Jimmypoo put me on to this Feb 2011 2.3 GHz MBP .
They counseled me and advised me. I could not get my funds together in time to ask someone to
make a trip to MicroCenter and truth be told I felt guilty even asking.. As it turned out N OS X-tasy
was able to help me close the deal at the Refurb Store and send it to me including sending me the 16GB of memory, sending me a copy of SL and of course AppleCare.
One could say the members of this forum are some of the best people in the world.
I could and would not have this MBP here in the Philippines without the members of this forum.

You can add the fact we went out for some awesome sushi last night. The spicy Salmon skin Temaki was delicious along with Ebi chili, Unaga, Ikura with quail egg and Tuna sashimi. I may have a photo to to add soon. There was udder stuff but ever since I read cbelts post I can't remember anything
