How does ebay get money out of sellers that have their 800 number on the ebay page?

I found an item and of course I'd rather call them and ask a couple of questions and use my credit card than mess with clicking links and using paypal.

Dennis,

I concur. There have been times I've seen an item on ebay and then found the web site of the company selling it. On many occasion, I've contacted and bought said item directly for the buy it now price. The primary reason is I'm not a fan of ebay and auctions in general. This way, I'm dealing directly with the company. No fees, no biddy, no dealing with paypal and such. Direct transaction. Simple. No muss, no fuss.

My impression was that being able to advertise your business directly in your eBay listing is a perk that comes with a certain level of membership or volume. No?
