Woot! Chalk one up for the good guys! Burglars behind bars

I noticed a suspicious looking van and an odd, out-of-place guy roaming around my neighbor's house. I called the cops to report the suspicious activity. I didn't expect much, but less than a minute later the cops were there. Two minutes later and 3 cops were there. 30 minutes later two people were on their way to the county jail. I'm guessing that their van is abandoned in front of my house now, but oh well. Apparently they had a known operation working as a false lawn service company. They case the joint and park around the corner in a van. The cops heard the call on the radio and recognized the MO and diverted to our house immediately. Way to go Yakima PD.

Yea! Glad you're paying attention! I was the victim of a house break last year, and it sucks! Scum of the earth! They sat on my bed and rifled through my belongings, idiots took my UPS and left my mini.

Last time I called in someone trying to break into a house (directly across the street from me) response time was 25 minutes.

Good for you. Had it been in Texas you could have just shot them.

Saint Cloud, Minnesota, where the weather is wonderful even when it isn't.

Good on you. I work at home and so it's pretty easy to see when something is amiss around here. Luckily, nothing has been in the 8 or so years we've lived here, knock on wood.

Is that sarcasm? I really like Yakima. I'm content to let the Seattlites keep making fun of Yakima. It keeps the riff-raff out. It's like calling Iceland "Greenland" and Greenland "Iceland". Yakima is a great place if it matches your personality. We have 4 seasons: not too hot, not too cold, not too wet, not too dry. I can go snow skiing, water skiing, kayaking, rafting, climbing, road biking, Mtn Biking, or just about any other activity within 45 minutes of my home, usually less. Our economy was largely spared from the recession. Our real estate market shrugged off the housing bubble. Prices never went up here, so they never dropped or not much at least. Yakima is very similar to Bend OR or Boise ID but we never had the advantage of having billionaire benefactors adopt the town. If we can get a decent University to develop here we might start to turn things around a little bit.

Nothing wrong with that, so long as it is just the two of them. Most of the Apples are grown in Wenatchee now anyway.

Not sarcasm, for all of the reasons you describe. And an easy drive to Seattle, Wenatchee, Concrete.....
