Any recommendations on an inexpensive VoIP provider that provides softphone and emailed voicemail capability?

Also looking for any recommendations on softphone software for the Mac.

Sorry, not too sure about the "soft phone" thing.

Apparently I spoke too soon. I should have read the OP closer.

My bad.

Thanks. Is there something wrong with Telasip's website or is it always unintuitive? I click links and can't find any information about residential service.

Do the advanced features come with the standard plan? If so, this looks to be the best deal out there.

It is a small operation but I've received really good service and pricing from them.
Try calling them at 888-Telasip

I had CallCentric and was reasonably happy. I now have a MagicJack and am happy with that as well.

yeah, I think they just have the one plan. Well, if we're just talking about residential service. They have the business service, and some other stuff that may not apply in your situation. But, everything that's listed is a part of their main residential plan. One thing you may want to do is get them on live chat or call them to ask some questions and get a feel for them. I'm no longer a customer (got Ooma almost 2 years ago), but when I was with them, they were always super-responsive when I had support requests.

Don't know if there are any current customers here, but they have an affiliate program that pays $50 per each residential account that's signed up for, if someone wants to do that...
