Sonic.net, baby!

Ok, swapped out the ancient AT&T Speed Touch Home modem for this dinky little Sonic thing (the att power adapter weighs more than the sonic modem plus its adapter!) went into the AEBS and changed PPPoE to Ethernet (resulting in DHCP) and I'm in.

Going to a few sites, it's definitely quicker service than ATT DSL.

Phone works without any reconnecting. I though I'd have to route it to the modem or some such, but no.

So far, looks good.

Let's see what the bill brings.

18.23 Mbps down, 1.11Mbps up!

Way waaaaaaaay more than I got with ATT!!

Ping is 30ms, though. I don't know what that was with ATT.

I'm liking Sonic Fusion!

Thanks to everybody who told me to take the plunge!

My condolences on the crappy service from ATT you had to put up with.

Ping for me on ATT at home is usually ~50ms+.
I am on Sonic.net right now as well, and my ping is 30.

My condolences on the crappy service from ATT you had to put up with.

For the longest time, the service seemed good, and I didn't really know what I was missing. But then, with the amount of TV shows I downloaded, I was getting throttled, and it was obvious.

Sonic says (as I was told here), no limit, no throttling. I don't think this newfound throughput will make much difference in the speed of the TV downloads. I don't know that their servers are all that fast.

But even just surfing, I can see really snappiness. And with no caps, that's good enough for me.

Good to know, thanks.

Color me HAPPY!

I've been considering Sonic as well since I'm only 3500 feet from the CO so my speeds should be pretty good. However, I have OOMA and I don't need phone service and I've read the taxes because of the phone service in Fusion are quite high ~$11/month.

Does anyone know if you can get Sonic without phone service?
