Free,
Yups. It's a decent price. I saw a Samsung 5400 rpm drive on dealmac for $100.00. I'd pay the extra $10 for the faster drive. BUt, Id' check to see the reviews of the drive prior to buying it, just to make sure it's a well regarded model.

Yeah I picked up one for $80 as well. It turned out to much faster than I expected, great for backups over eSATA.Quote

I've got 4 of those in my RAID. They work great. Got them for around $80 a year ago.

The prices are starting to come back to earth... that's a SATA II drive btw, there are SATA III drives out there w/in a few bucks if that makes any difference. Good price in today's market for 7.2K RPM. Next week ? ? ?
Assuming you don't have a SATA III controller for the 3.5" drive, you should be golden.

Ha, now you've confused me.
What is the difference between SATA II, and SATA III?
Can I put a SATA II drive into an external case that has a SATA III controller and vice versa?
Would there be any significant performance difference between SATA II and SATA III if I put this drive into a case and use the FW 800 interface? This is the fastest interface my iMac has.

I am so glad I got four 3TB drives for $85 each right after the whole flooding thing happened. I think 2TB drives were dipping down to around $70 for the WD Green drives around then too. I wonder if/when we'll get back down that low.
