27" Thunderbolt. But apparently the MBP didn't come at the same time, should be here later today.

If the MBP doesn't show soon, send the TB monitor down here... we'll put it use w/ the MBP's that are here; and be sure and let you know how well the monitor works :-)

Don't worry, wont keep it long; don't like glossy screens, and besides, the U3011 gets jealous if it's out of action too long.

Congrats on the display. Hope the MBP shows soon... BTW, how well loaded of a 15" did you end up getting?

I'm not a fan of glossy either, but didn't really have a ton of say. And that goes for the 15" - I know I'm getting a 15, but don't know if the specs are the same as what I asked for. Ideally it'll have a SSD. If not the 750GB 7200RPM... if not, the stock one. Not sure on RAM either.

Waited to mention the monitor until it was on my desk.

Fairly easy to tweak those puppies, just pop the bottom hood, and the RAM and drive are right there just begging to be upgraded. 16GB RAM and SSD make for a smooth, powerful ride. Alternatively, a Momentus XT hybrid can be pretty zippy in there, so I'm told, and provide added speed w/ ample size. I wimped out and only put a 240GB SSD in the main MBP, and left the optical alone, as I tend to travel w/ 2 or 3 portable FW drives anyway, otherwise, swapping a 750GB/1TB into the optical bay creates a potent AIO MBP. You're gonna love whatever shows up, before and after any tweaking.

MBP arrived. Stock 2.2. 5400RPM. Getting more RAM shouldn't be an issue... not sure on the HD. We'll see. Still stoaked though.

It's a CRIME to ship those things with that pokey drive... I would seriously consider the Momentous XT 750gb for $140 (if size is important to you) or a good SSD.

That's about the same price as Apple's $150 upcharge for a non-hybrid 750GB 7200RPM drive... kinda frustrating, because the 750GB 5400 drive that is standard on the $400 higher priced, faster MBP model, isn't all that pokey for a spinny type drive. Under $200 gets 8GB RAM and a zippy hybrid. About $325 gets 16GB RAM and a usable, high speed SSD, w/ the stock drive available for added storage.

It's not really a matter of "considering" it, it's that they didn't order one. If I can show productivity lost, then I can probably get something faster. Would like one of those 120GB OWC SSDs.

They're more expensive.

I upgraded two machines with the new hybrid drives, and their users love them.

That's only $150.
