My iPhone 4 has been temperamental when charging. First of all, it's not holding a charge as well as it used too (about 16 months old) but that's another discussion. The problem that mainly concerns me is that the sync connection isn't making good contact. In fact, if the "newer" sync cables do not work unless I hold it secure. However, if I use the older style sync cable that came with my iPod Video / Classic (USB2 version) or my wife's iPod Mini it charges/syncs just fine (has the buttons on the side).

Anyone else had this issue?

Have you used a brush to clean the connector out?

Do you have the phone in a case?

I've noticed that a lot of cases don't permit iPhone cables to jack-in securely.

Are these "newer" sync cables from Apple?

Will Do so in a few... I've done it but still see some dirt in there.

Yes I use a cheap case... The same one as my wife uses on her iPhone 4... But, just started having issues about a month ago

Yes, came with my iPhone, wife's iPhone and my son's iPad.

The "newer style" seems like it is "pushing out" of the socket.
