I've been a COM reader for the past few months and at times they seemed a bit dodgy in some of the stuff that they review and sell. Now, it looks like they've gone beyond the pale:

I'm wondering if some of those comments are confusing MacKeeper (the crappy product that does more harm than good) with MacDefender (the trojan that steals credit card numbers).

Many of those comments say that it slows the system down and then asks for a credit card to "fix it". I thought that was the MacDefender bahavior.

Not much difference. They're both trojans.

^ True.

MacKeeper is like throwing money down a hole in order to keep giraffes away. Just because there are no giraffes around doesn't prove the money was well spent.

Saw the article on MA, and took the author at his word to write to him w/ questions or comments. Did, and asked what was up considering the trojan warnings associated w/ both MK and MD. Will post back if he responds.

I was going to check the comments, but when I went to enable the script, I saw this impressive list of third party crap it wanted to stuff down my gullet (screen cap below). Pretty much answers the question about what Cult of Mac is all about.
