My Alma Mater - Poynter Institute for Media Studies. I've taken several classes there; great place and a truly GREAT faculty.

It is essentially a think tank for the media; named for Nelson Poynter who founded it and owned the St. Petersburg Times (along with Congressional Quarterly, Florida Trend, Georgia Trend and a few other publications)

I think that Poynter investigated because of the rumor echo--other sites tend to take what Digitimes says and run with it. Also, Digitimes is not exactly scrupulous about labeling their rumors "rumors."

I listen to Ken Ray of Mac OS Ken daily, and his take on Digitimes rumormongering always cracks me up.

Exactly.

Ken Ray mentioned that very thing a couple of weeks ago and how when that happens, Apple's stock prices are often greatly affected, and not for the better.
