Subject of some serious short betting
[tech.fortune.cnn.com]

also - headline out there about Apple buying fewer chips from Samsung... but the meat there is that Apple is diversifying and shifting business to other chip makers - not Apple buying less chips....

All about the long game.

I'd read yesterday about some hedge funds (at least I think it was them) shorting Apple.

Samsung is drinking their milkshake. The iPhone 5 has to be "all that" and a bag of Doritos shaped into a tortilla shell for sale at Taco Bell. Ideally Apple would offer multiple iPhones with different screen sizes.

I tend to believe the rumor that the big boys are pulling dough out of AAPL to buy in to Facebook's IPO tomorrow.

That, and them same guys trying (successfully) to drive AAPL down enough by selling off, and buying back in at a later date to reap huge rewards. Rinse and repeat.

Am i worried about my AAPLs in the long term? Heck no!! smiling bouncing smiley

I sure hope not. Apple can't be everything to everybody. Remember the lineup when SJ returned and what he did to it to help save Apple? ? ? ? ? ?

I would like two sizes when AND ONLY WHEN they can make 1 type of phone for all carriers they want to use.

Got one of them. Been holding onto my HTC Evo which is a phone I've loved for 2 years. I'm holding out to see what the iPhone 5 was going to be. I was "bitterly" disappointed with the 4s. Same dang phone (with special sauce). If the new iPhone is just 4 inches, then I'll get the new Evo 4G LTE from Sprint. I have a Nexus S on another line.

Sure they can. That's why they made iPod Mini's and Nano's and Shuffles. People what different things. Apple doesn't need saving now. The one phone thing is going to ultimately be to their regret. The more Samsung, HTC and the other mafia legions of Android vendors flood the market with their wares people are discovering that IOS really isn't really better. Just different. Apple needs to come with it. Calling a tiny screen Retina isn't going to cut it because it really isn't better.

ahhh, voice of reason. I just hope they keep making the one best all around phone on the market like they have been (aside from some very minor technicalities)

So 4 inches doesn't satisfy you buy you're fine with 5 inches?

Seriously, just use the iPad--it's 9.7 inches and that should be enough for anyone, even you.

Didn't want to use the magic century number as my target benchmark. so 510 seemed reasonable.

I don't think there are any real changes in Apple valuation. I look at this drop as a good time to invest.

Just a bit of needling, sekker. I think this is an incredible time to invest. It's what some refer to as a "WTF sale".

Do you "ever" use anything other than Apple stuff? Here say or some hands on thing at the store for a few minutes doesn't count. I would like to hear that you have.

This is a general sell-off in the hi-tech stocks in a market decline. Here are some current declines from their 52 week highs.

AAPL down 18%
HPQ down 41%
BRCM down 23%
NVDA down 37%
CSCO down 23%
QCOM down 17&
IBM down 7% !!!!!
INTC down 11%
MSFT down 10%
ORCL down 24%
RAX down 16%

Might be a time to buy but wait for a frenzied bottom on high volume.

Analysis: Now is the time to buy Apple stock

By Andy M. Zaky, Bullish Cross, Special to AppleInsider

Since 2006, independent analyst and AppleInsider contributor Andy Zaky of Bullish Cross has only published four total public buy ratings on Apple stock. Read why on Thursday, he initiated his fifth buy rating for Apple, and first in 11 months.

Today, we are initiating our 5th ever buy rating on Apple just about 11-months after the last recommendation we gave. We tend to only publish these buy rating under extraordinary circumstances, when Apple has been extremely oversold and when the stock's valuation has become incredibly depressed. We also only publish these ratings once the markets have seen a substantial sell-off or prolonged period of consolidation.

Currently our non-Apple equipment comprises a couple of feature phones and a Dell notebook. As soon as they can be replaced by Apple stuff, they will be. Over the years I've owned monitors, other peripherals, and network and communications equipment by many manufacturers.

I have been providing programming and technical support services for businesses large and small for the last twenty years so I have lots of experience with hardware and systems of all makes and kinds. I know what I like and I'm pretty sure I know what's good.

I don't doubt you know what's what. You're intelligent. You could stand to be a little more hands on with today's offerings.
