Anyone wearing "minimal" shoes for running / walking?

Whatcha wearin?
The more I've heard, the more I want to go the minimal route. For exercise walks -eventually I will incorporate some running into the routine. But a recent forefoot ache/inflammation following 5 brisk miles in the wrong "casual" shoes (SAS) gives me pause. OTOH, me feets feel best when barefoot around me house 'n yard.

We have a place in town here that lets you try on as many shoes as you like. You can try a pair on and run on their treadmill so they can film your stride and see if the shoes are working for you. I asked about the minimal shoes when I went in but they recommended some Brooks Adrenaline...which i like very much.

Must be the shoes. I have switched to Vibram Five Fingers for jogging and trails.

I wore my Merrill Barefoots on a hike this weekend. I was initially concerned that the rocky terrain would cause my feet to hurt for several days, but they seem fine, my calves are a different story. It was an uphill hike to a ridge and back down (the view was well worth it though).

OK, so it was 14 days ago...I'll forgive the OP. It seemed like a few days ago to me.

Mea culpa, I missed that previous thread. I figured some here would be on the barefoot bandwagon.

My daughter is training for a half-marathon next week and has put in something like 100 miles over the last month or two. Anyway, she wears Vibrams for this and claims they're dandy for running, even though her parents are concerned about how much protection these new-fangled things offer.

Could be worse, I suppose- we could never get this girl to wear shoes or socks regularly anyway. About the most she will do is wear Birkies on bare feet.

Still loving my Merrell "Pace Gloves". Unfortunately, most of my other shoes feel bulky, clunky and over-engineered now.
