We are home.

In case you didn't know, my husband and I took our daughter to Budapest, Vienna, and Prague for her graduation from college trip. We were there for 12 days and got home about 11pm last night. We had a great time, except for some feakishly cold and windy weather part of the time, and are glad to be home. I like to travel, but it sure is nice to get home. Now if I can just readjust to our local time. What day is it again?

Glad I had WiFi in all three places, and even in the airports. We almost had WiFi on one of the trains, but happened to get one that didn't. Now to download the pics from the SD card, unpack, do a ton of laundry, and boy does the grass need to be cut. grinning smiley

Edit: BooBoo kitteh, was thrilled to find out that she had not been abandoned, as I think she had thought. A friend of my daughter house sat for us, so I think she thought he was her new 'person'. He had to study for the MCats, and also cat sat for us, so it worked out well.

Glad you weren't on flight 787.

Hope it wasn't one of those fun-filled vacations that are so hectic you need a week when you come home to recover.

Sounds like a great trip for the family. Is said daughter employed yet? College major? Best of life . . .

Wow, just looked at that flight number. Glad that wasn't us. Unfortunately it was a pretty walking intensive vacation, so it may take me till Monday to recover.

Welcome back.

Sounds like a great trip for the family. Is said daughter employed yet? College major? Best of life . . .

Daughter will actually finish up at the end of July, so she can get a double major instead of just one. She has finished her Spanish major and will add Advertising after one last class and the required one hour of PE. She will be doing a paid, but not paid a lot, internship at Disney World from late August till January, and who knows what from there. She doesn't want to get a masters right now, so she will be looking for a full time job for after the internship. Hopefully she might be able to stay on for a while at WDW, but who knows. They require you to do the work in the park internship thing before you can even be considered for permanent corporate employment. She thinks she wants to work for an advertising agency somewhere, but I am sure she will be open to all advertising job offers. The fluency in Spanish should be a plus, in any job she applies for. She is getting out in only three years and won't turn 21 till July, so I think the Disney thing will be a good break between school and a corporate type job. I hope she enjoys it.

You won't believe this, but all I bought was one cheap T-Shirt in Prague. I am not really a shopper.

I guess we could send the shirt around like we did with mini leader...

Welcome back ! It's those memories that will last your daughter a lifetime. Material possessions break, wear out, or become obsolete. Memories of a special trip or place or event are cherished forever.

Sounds like she has a plan - good for her! One of my daughters is also a Spanish major who hopes to use that skill in the workplace. Will your daughter be living at home?

Actually rgG's daughter is the next project..... mini-rgG. She will live with each one of us for a week or two as she does odd chores at each household until she swears to go back and get her Masters. We will each post pictures of her in the european T-shirt as she prances around local sights in her mom's favorite thong styles.

From watching Mad Men I think it entails a lot of boozing, womanizing, and manizing.

It still does to some degree, but nowadays to build a successful career it generally also entails 60-80+ hour work weeks, low pay, and is incredibly competitive.

Has anyone watched the AMC program "The Pitch?" If you want insight on advertising, that's a good place to start.

Oh, and welcome home!

Well, I unpacked the clothes, maybe tomorrow I will wash the dirty ones.

As far as My daughter and a career in advertising, she seems to really like it. I worked in advertising, marketing, and design for many years, but for the corporate side. Since she is so young, if she doesn't like it, she can do something else. I would advise her to consider the corporate side rather than the agency route, but it is her choice. She can always go from one side to the other. We will see where she winds up.

As far as where she will live, she will be heading to Orlando right after she officially graduates, and then we will see. I would like it if she would stay in Atlanta, for a while, but I think she may move to work where she thinks she will enjoy it. Right now, who knows.

I found the corporate side to be very bland, boring, and full of tape compared to working with advertising agencies. I suppose it depends on what you are looking for.

It is infinitely easier to go from the agency side to the corporate side than it is to go the other way.

I'm not recommending against an agency job, just warning that it's not for everyone.

Yeah, I think that may be why she wants to go the agency route. I am cool with whatever makes her happy. I think with corporate it would also depend on the corporations, as it would also depend on the accounts the agency has. As I said, wherever she can get a job that she enjoys is fine. I do hope, for selfish reasons, that she isn't too far away from Atlanta, but that is a definite possibility. She is our only child, and I would miss seeing her, if she is somewhere across the country.

Still haven't gotten then downloaded from the camera yet. Maybe tomorrow. I will try to post a few, when I get them on the laptop. My daughter Instagramed some nice ones while we were there, but I didn't take my iPhone, and my iPad doesn't have a camera. I hope the pics look decent, when I offload them.

Yep, just having the small family together for almost two weeks with no interruptions was great, as well as the trip.
