iTunes Music problem

I was cleaning up my iTunes and noticed some old songs that I had purchased several years ago. I went to pay them and the dialog box poped up and wanted me to authorize this account.

I then noticed it was from an old email that I had back then and I can remember the password. I had completley forgotten about this account.

How do I converge my old account with my current account that I have been using for the past 5 plus years??

I thought I had done that but apparently not.

TIA

I believe Apple might allow you to add more email addresses to your main AppleID, and do things like sub-accounts.

This sounds like a trip to the support page or forum discussion page for iTunes, however, to find out for sure.

I had the same or similar problem: tracks I purchased long ago as protected AAC and showing up with an email address and account different then my current itunes ID. I was unable to log in to itunes using that old account ID, but you don't say if you tried that. In any case,

I emailed itunes account services several times. they were helpful, but they didn't actually answer my question. They did say though that there was a time years ago when they switched our itunes account ids to match our apple IDs, so the "old" account was what I had originally set up for itunes. So if you didn't create two itunes IDs over the years, my guess is that what happened to you too.

My question was whether using itunes match would work to let me consolidate all my tunes, including upgrading these old AACs and stripping the protection. They never answered that. But I decided to do it anyway, and that worked at least for me. So the old tunes with the different ID did match, and I was able to delete the protected version and download the upprotected 256 bit version.

I'll give it a try.

I could not remember my old password.

Love it. Treat me like a potential thief, even after I forked over money for the content.
