Target Disc mode on an Air?

Helping a friend who messed up her identity on her new Air (10.7.4). Can you boot that machine into some kind of target disc mode that works over USB (just in case I want to look at her drive on another computer)?

(She "changed her username and now her "log in doesn't pull up the same old desktop files, etc. as before she made the change."winking smiley Figured I might go in as root and move her needed data around to the new identity & correct the ownerships, etc.)

Perhaps over ethernet (if you have the enet--usb adapter)? There must be some way you can access that volume.

Not a biggie- she figured out what she did and fixed it herself. Don't know what that is, yet.

Good to know, I assume you can use a Thunderbolt-> Firewire adapter to connect to the other computer? (Assuming connecting to a non- Thunderbolt machine)

Yes, but it'll cost you and it'll take awhile to get your hands on one.
