Any ~800 lb person is a medical emergency!

Heck, any 300 lb person is a medical emergency. This emergency got called way too late.

300lb? Perhaps, perhaps not. I mean a 300lb round couch potato, yes, a problem. 300lb lineman for the NY Giants, probably not a problem.

That would depend on what he did or took to get to that weight, wouldn't it?

all those people are from US, except #2 which is form Mexico. What is the real reason for that? fast food? junk food? genetically modified crops? food too affordable? too much processed food?

I think the reason isn't the food choices, it's the way too many Americans view themselves and the world that often leads to these sad situations.

But a 300lb lineman for the NY Giants is a problem for his opponents.

I find this map interesting. Note that India and China have the same rate of diabetes as we do, and that Mexico's rate is even worse than ours.

I would also add lifestyle, driving everywhere, etc. OTOH I am now working downtown, and take the bus home. I see plenty of heftier types getting on the bus, getting out of breath walking from stop to bus.

That map feels backwards with the lighter colors being a higher incidence of diabetes. I think it should be the other way around.

Anyway, what is the deal with Saudi Arabia having the highest incidence of diabetes (along with Malaysia)?
